It is spicy, but only to the point where it infuses your mouth and tastebuds with flavours if it is cooked correctly.
If it is cooked in a way where it burns your mouth, it’s not been seasoned or cooked correctly.
Instead, the spiciness of the jerk marinade should trigger an emotional experiences as you are discovering the different flavours that you are eating with the chicken.
Additionally, jerk chicken is usually served with other sides like rice, yam, sweet potato, and dumplings which reduce the spiciness by combining the flavours with the side dish that you are eating.
If you do find that the jerk chicken that you are eating is too spicy, add water to it or reduce the amount of jerk that you add to the mix before cooking it.

Yes you can. Chicken is encouraged on a keto diet since the protein intake will form a large percentage of your macronutrients.
The thing you do need to be aware of though is the contents within the jerk chicken marinade or seasoning. Typically, there will be sugar, which will add to your carbohydrate intake.
However, you can simply add a small serving (1 teaspoon to 1 tablespoon) to a large mix (1-2kg) of chicken to make the jerk chicken mix.
This should allow you to keep your carbohydrate intake low so your body will remain in ketosis.
It’s likely that you will consume 100-200g of jerk chicken in your meal, which should keep your body in ketosis.

Jerk chicken is one of the healthier options if consumed in a balanced diet that consists of fibrous and complex carbohydrates.
The chicken itself is a lean meat and is one of the healthiest options, especially if you opt for chicken breast.
For the jerk seasoning or marinade, it is still a healthy option since you are likely to use 5-20g in a serving when you decide to cook your jerk chicken.
Consuming burnt jerk chicken can be unhealthy.
You want to make sure that the jerk chicken is cooked well. This means the meat is cooked thoroughly inside the chicken and that the exterior with the jerk sauce isn’t burned with charcoal.

One of the recipes I liked to cook quickly that was healthy and great if you want to get lean is stewed jerk chicken breast that is flavoured with curry.
I’m glad that Jamie Oliver teamed up with Levi Roots to demonstrate a quick Jerk Chicken recipe that you can do at home on your grill.
The recipe is good and quick if you want to opt for a quick cooking option.

Jerk chicken when cooked with the right marinade is amazing. The smell and the aroma draws you in and the juices with the different flavours melt in your mouth.
Just thinking about it gives me pleasure.
There are a few options for Jerk Marinade on the market. However, I recommend having the following.
In my opinion, this one is the best. Second to none compared to the ones that I’ve trialled over the years.
The flavour when applied in the right amount infuses the chicken. It is spicy, so you will need to expect a kick from what you are eating.
It’s good to cook the chicken by itself. But when you combine it with vegetables in the oven so it stews (Especially if you add capsicum, onions, and tomatoes), the final result is LUSH.
You won’t regret it.
I usually always kept 2 bottles in my cupboard at a time because I loved it so much. And my work colleagues at the time loved the smell.
This one is nice, but whenever I’ve used it it just seems to have a little something missing. I think there is less salt in this one, so it isn’t as tasty.
You will still get the jerk chicken kick with the spice and peppers.
This one would always be my second choice. I would have to boost the flavour by adding more salt to the mix.
If you would like to try a jerk sauce that has a stronger emphasis on the pepper and spice, then you can opt for the jerk seasoning marinade from The Shizzle, with their Voodoo hot jerk seasoning marinade.
Grace have been one of the highest profile spice and marinade producers in Jamaica and generally provide high-quality seasonings for meats and vegetables.
The taste is a hit and miss for people. Most likely, if you want a saltier taste, but the spice is lukewarm, then this is probably the ideal option for you.
